Description: The spatial distribution of Hadaq fishing gear used in Abu Dhabi Emirate. Hadaq or hook & line is a versatile fishing gear used by either tarad or lansh fishermen alike. There are many different methods falling under Hadaq, like Lafaah (trolling), Mehayah (big hook), Shab (2-4 smaller hooks on same line), etc. Hadaq is the most simple fishing gear, which is unregulated and often used in combination with other gear types. Data originates from Abu Dhabi commercial fisheries statistics stored in the National Fisheries Information System (NFIS), 2010-2012. Enumerators interview fishermen on their fishing trip whereabouts, utilizing a marine grid with spatial units measuring approx. 18 by 18 km. This allowed to pinpoint the actual fishing grounds for the Hadaq fishing gear more accurately. The total sample size was 2,787 records obtained from Delma, Al Sadar, Al Marfa, Free Port, Saadiyat and Al Bateen landing sites.
